I'd like to remind people to give fair warning to readers to the content of their works. Again, PG forum, we want to be aware of those who are younger and should not be exposed to the types of poems that involve violence or death. So please make sure you give a rating for your poem, maybe in your subject title or at the beginning of your piece. Thank you! -[kitoky] ---------------------------------------- Dec. 9th, 2007 A-U has lift-off the official writing contests. This stage are prelims where we can work out kinks for future rounds and take suggestions how to make the official rounds better. I totally agree with there needing to be ratings. We realy do need to look out for those who are younger than us. Okay, if I'm asking a stupid beyond stupid question than please forgive me. However I'm a bit confussed. Are you saying that any poems that inclued violence or death of any kind should not be permitted or that if they have mild or short parts that inclued such things that they should hold at least a PG rating and a warning? I guess that that realy is a stupid question. Sorry. I'm just wanting to make sure that I don't become a rule breaker and in order do that I need to understand all of the rules. Thanks in advance for your help. Oh, and for the reminder. Sorry once again for being such a bother. |

It doesn't look like we can really stop members from posting poems that express these themes, so now I think it's fine to just put up a noticeable warning/rating of the contents in the poem. Ea: I'd be happy to! ![]() G: Happy frilly poems, with flowers and ponies that are generally not harmful to children of 10 and under. PG: Poems that are a bit stronger than of G. PG-13: Poems that hints at violence, drugs, death, etc. R: Not to be accepted at all. Usually having sexual innuendos, sexual details, details of violence. This is different from hints of violence, drugs, or death because it goes into detail and focuses on it. |

Thank you Kit... Could you explain another puzzle for my European mind perhaps... What are the ratings used for? To warn the listener, reader, viewer what content he/she might expect? So he/she can make the choice not to see it? |

It's just a warning for what the writing might contain --- he/she can read it on his/her own but writers are not reliable for an insults/charges due to its contents. |

In other words, I believe keyodie, if you have blood gushing out of wounds, yes. If you say "with one tremendous whack! the warrior slashed off Rulfus' head" no. |
