Rome is alight,
Come there tonight.
The people are dancing,
Oh, they are dancing!
The torches are lighting,
Gladiators fighting,
While Mars looks on.
Augustus is proceeding,
In chariot strong,
None are impeding,
From the great throng.
For Rome I dream!
Seven hilled city,
On who Romulus once proudly beamed,
But now is ruin.
For you I yearn,
Where all roads turn,
The forum mighty,
Watched by the deities.
But Rome is lost,
Scarred and burned.
And on the Capitol I lie the night time,
Waiting for that special time,
When She will return.
This is my final goodbye to that ancient city which achieved so much, farewell.....
