Rings

The phone rings
I don't answer it
I see the number and don't dare to
I know it would hurt me too much from anew.

How can a phone call hurt?
It's the person who's calling
Who I thought has forgotten about me
And I was glad HE did, so I could heal in the meantime.

Why does HE call me now?
I never wanted anything to do with HIM again
And I thought so did HE, I'm curious,
But don't take off the phone, let it ring.

The door bell rings
I can't see who it is, so I open the door
And HE stands there, begging to come in
And all those feelings return, I open the door.

HE steps in,
first acting kind and friendly,
as if never anything has happened
as if we still were old friends.

Suddenly HE grabs,
Takes what HE wants,
No matter what that means for me,
No matter if I even want that.

I find a metal object with my left hand
I raise it, without HIM noticing
And slam it down at HIS head
Not hurting HIM too much.

But hard enough,
HE backed away, left,
And I stay where I was,
Crying.

I seek help,
Want to forget all that,
But find that I can't,
why did I open the door?

And the phone rings again...
And it's HIM...
