Flashing clouds of ancient dust, Crashing against the armor's rust, Crusader armies on the move, Hoping by sword to God prove Their devotion to their holy war, That they hope to one day die for. Because for years they have walked, Through hell and by demons stalked, Wearing the tattered, crossed rag, Harassed by Satan's many stags, Even the lords feeling the curse, Thinking the host will soon disperse. "But alas!", one cried, "The Holy Land, against all odds defied!", And they would spread out to fight, Even in the accursed night, And in their faithfulness so great, The Kingdom of Jerusalem they would create. |
