Post subject:  White Shores

I have often wondered at the sadness of our passing and parting here. I think our pain is often increased because our gaze is too low. You and I will meet again like it says in the song by Annie Lennox.

Let us lift our heads—look up and see the land beyond that is our destiny. My boy wrote a poem just recently that I absolutely love. It lifts our gaze to see the White Shores beyond the Gray Havens:

Of rivers gold
Of treasures old
Beyond the Misty Mountains bold
An ancient city there to stay
A realm of light that ever may
Beyond the darkness forever fold
Within its wings a land so old

Away from sorrow, death and pain
The journey over, evil slain
The veil lifts
The white ships come
The silver wind alone does hum
The journey ends, at last we stand
Beyond the earth on diamond sand

Post subject:  Your poetry.....

I noticed that you are often in this section of AU and have written some fanfiction but have you written any poetry on LotR? If you have, I would very much like to read it!

Alas, I have not. Truthfully, I'm not much of a poet. I think I'm too much of a perfectionist to write it really. If it doesn't rhyme or flow then I'm usually unhappy with it, which is sad, because poetry doesn't always have to be that way.

No, I think I shall leave the real poetry to the rest of you. :)

Post subject:  Different venues...

Then I shall be happy with your inspiration in the channels it comes in. Truthfully, I have not done as well with poetry as I would like either but I still get the overwhelming urge to give it a whirl once in a while. I think however, like you, my talents lie in different venues.
