I wrote this poem after reading
Twilight , By Stephanie Meyer. For those of you who haven't read the book, it's about vampires.

I don't post poetry too often, so any comments at all would be appreciated!! Thanks!!
A heart as cold as stone
Freezing emptiness down to the bone.
No warm blood to flow through each vein
This lonely existence is naught but pain.
Marble skin, hard and ice
No normal nourishment will suffice.
Flaming red eyes, burning down to the soul
Or otherwise deepest midnight, the blackest coal.
That bright orb above is nothing but a foe
We must wait until the absence of its fiery glow.
The night is friend, for its blackness is a cloak
Its darkness allows us in blood to soak.
Ah, and the Thirst:
That exquisite blessing, and a curse.
The sweetness of that warm red, flowing
And the appetite that is ever growing.
And yet because of it we are set apart
Taken away has been the heart.
Doomed to exist, all alone
In places where light has never shone.
For eternity, until the end of time
Until the bells of Judgment Day do chime.
Although already dead, I will subsist
Unless fire takes me, with its passionate kiss.
