Hey

This is a poem that I wrote quite some time ago about Faramir, and his struggle with his father, who prefers his brother Boromir, even though he has died. I tried to put into poetry form the battle at Osgiliath and how he nearly died - then he wakes up in the Houses of Healing and meets Eowyn. And you know the rest. Hope you like it

P.S. The Last Son is the name of a song featured in Elvish in the LOTR track "The Steward of Gondor", and it was so good I decided to use it for this.
 The last son
Left behind,
Competing with one who is dead.
Shield your eyes from the sun,
A sun that faded long ago.
But it still shines for him,
It still shines for the son of Ecthelion.
You feel cold and numb
The pain still lives within
And the glint in your grey eyes tells me that your happiness has long worn thin
Competing with one who is dead.
Battle, war, blood, death, gore, arrows, swords, fragile breath
Are you gone now?
Do you travel to the ones beyond
Your fathers in the grey mist,
Singing their melancholy songs.
But no, you wake now,
To one who despairs
Her eyes grey-blue,
Golden her hair
And you'll both despair no longer
For you know what's meant to be.
