Hey ![]() This is a poem I've written about one of my favourite women from history, Anne Boleyn, queen of England. Writing this I've thought about Henry Percy, the young man she was not allowed to marry, and King Henry VIII, the man who fought to make her his queen, then destroyed her after a few years, executing her on false charges brought against her to please him, and make way for the new object of his affection. Anyhoo! Enjoy =) Goldyxxx ~~~ She walked in a blaze of black Softly, softly, angel Softly, softly, angel Her eyes told him differently of what he was sure And softly inscrutable An enigmatic angel She was all that ever had been And as she walked that path to light He knew that she was only a passing moment Midnight’s dark wings would carry her away… A star doomed to fade A lovely flower in time to break She was plucked forth from a fairytale And set there in those arms Fragile enough to shatter King with the greed of Minas, To believe it didn’t matter. She is a cloud of velvet Skimming the ground amongst the waves to crash She is a being of cloud and flame To follow those numbers to the ground… Have you ever wondered why? A broken heart soaring to the sky To end her life amongst the ashes of her dreams And as her blood ran Her past love knew That she would rise to find the light Her destroyer broke his promises In the night. Pale light Pale light Softly, Softly, Pale light. |
