Post subject: | The Walk Home, a Poem |
(From the perspective of an old man, to be read slowly) I. hello lovely night, it is good to see you tonight, but my sight is not so good, and you are not so bright. But the air is still cold like I remember it a very long time ago to be, and perhaps you are still as piercing and dark and perfect like I remember you to be. Oh, hello lovely night, this may be the last night we meet. II. Concrete. But I don't forget the dirt paths of my family (we came through or the place where I was born in Shenandoah and I remember the band stand and, God, it was good. III. Yes, yes, it is chilling, thank you dear, I'm going to bed. Ah, she shuts the door and I lay down slowly and turn off the lamp. Good night, lovely night, Good night, this is the last night we meet. |
