A set of swings, so empty now, except for layered dust.
What was it due, but all the years of hatred and distrust?
What times of pain, so tempest-tossed,
With nothing gained tho all was lost
This world in which we once had lived, so empty now and barren.
So many things so overlooked, so much we weren't aware in.
O rue the day it was created, this way to win all war.
To play like God, it must have been, since that is what it's for.
Like children with new grown-up sight,
We started off, began our plight.
We thought it out, knew all what was next,
Prepared for all the after-effects.
But ill prepared for all the ways
The light would flash and flare
Knowing it was all because we had thought to dare.
We figured it out, the world collapsed,
It simply was not built for that.
The light grew dim and all was dark,
the weapons had all left their mark.
Because of foolish human men,
The way we thought we'd always win,
Yet we hd lost and knew it too,
Although soon wished it wasn't true.
We'd killed out world with all us in it,
Defeated the purpose down the minute.
Our lives were over, even theirs' too,
All because now we simply knew.
Exactly what nuclear war could do.
