“I know what it is you are up to Legolas,” Aragorn said as he approached the elf on the peak of Edoras looking towards the east where sky was fiery red.
Legolas looked at Aragorn confused. “What do you mean my friend?” he said.
“You have been switched,” said Aragorn looking at him with concern. “You are not the Legolas I once new,”
“What do you mean?” asked Legolas confused.
“I mean…” started Aragorn raising his voice. “That you are not Legolas! I saw one of your ears fall off today! Do not lie to me boy!”
“Boy? So you think I am mortal?” asked Legolas, “But how did you know…”
“Well didn’t I just say that I saw you ear come off today?” snapped Aragorn.
“Ok, I admit, I am not Legolas,” said the impostor.
“Then what have you done with him?” asked Aragorn. “And what’s your real name?”
“My real name is Orlando Bloom,” started Orlando, “we did a deal, Legolas wanted to go back and see his girlfriend, he misses her terribly. So we switched places, it was just when the Urûk’s started to attack, remember? And I came running up with Gimli? Legolas had contacted me from Lothlórien…and asked me to meet him at falls of Rauros.”
“I didn’t even know Legolas had a girlfriend,” said Aragorn. “Is she an elf?”
“Err, well sort of,” started Orlando.
“What do you mean sort of?” asked Aragorn confused, “Is she an elf or not?”
“She’s half-elven,” hesitated Orlando.
“Half-elven?” asked Aragorn and at that moment his Evenstar around his neck started to glow. “Something is wrong with Arwen… it should never glow like that!”
“Err really?” asked Orlando sweat dripping of his forehead.
“Yes, I wonder if there’s a way of contacting her,” wondered Aragorn. Then he remembered the Palantir stone that Gandalf had found in Isengard. “Come we must check that stone that Gandalf brought from Saruman!”
Just a he said that the light from his Evenstar shone brighter and the earth began to tremble. They heard a commotion down inside the hall where everyone was sleeping.
“Come! Something is wrong!” called Aragorn as he rushed inside.
“He is here! I think Sauron is here!” started Orlando but Aragorn was gone.

Aragorn rushed inside the room where Gandalf and everyone had been sleeping. He saw Pippin struggling to get rid of the Palantir as it was stuck to his fingers. Aragorn rushed over and grabbed it, making him have a very disturbing vision…he then fell back and dropped it, making it roll towards Gandalf who had now awoke and threw a cloth over it.
“Fool of a Took! What were you thinking?” shouted Gandalf.
“I wanted to play bowls with it, but my fingers got stuck in the holes and I realised then it was not for bowling…” started Pippin as if he were in a trance.
“What did you see? Tell me!” cried Gandalf…
“Err… I cannot… it was so…” started Pippin but Gandalf was so enraged that Pippin had to tell him something about what he saw… so he gulped and continued, “Err I saw a tree…”
“A tree?” asked Gandalf.
“Err, yes a white tree. Hmm… yes, I think it was dead… and it was in a courtyard of stone or something like that… I saw then saw…errr…hmmm… a city and it was…. Hmmm let me think now… oh burning! Yes burning!”
“The city of Minas Tirith? Is that what you saw?” asked Gandalf frantically shaking him.
“The city of Minas ooo-hoo? What the hell is… oh yes of course, I saw Minas Tirith… its all coming back to me now!”
“What else did you see? Speak!” cried Gandalf.
“Well I err… I SAW HIM!!!!!!” cried Pippin in fright.
“Him? Who’s Him?” asked Aragorn in a suspicious tone, he had not yet told anyone what his vision was…
“Err…Sorry He cannot be named…” said Pippin and expected Gandalf to go mad and start shaking him again, but he didn’t.
“Oh no! You have spoken to Him? He who cannot be named? What did you tell him? Tell me you didn’t say anything about Frodo and his ring?”
“Oh Him? Yes… I mean no of course not. I never said a word,” said Pippin.

The next day Gandalf called a meeting in the Kings hall, “By the sound of it Pippin had a glimpse of the enemy’s plans….” Started the wizard, Pippin cringed at this and gulped hard as sweat poured from his head.
“He saw the City of Minas Tirith in Gondor aflame… so the enemy must be ready to make his move on the world of men… he has been defeated here…. But I fear that Gondor will not have such a victory without our help!”
“Tell me Gandalf,” said Théoden, “Why should we ride to the aid of those who did not come to ours?”
“Uncle…” started Eowyn.
“I will go!” said Aragorn.
“No, I must go, you must go to Gondor by a different route…” then Gandalf and mumbled something that no one could figure out, then he spoke aloud, “No, I will be riding to Gondor, sound the alarm… and I won’t be going alone…” at this he looked at Pippin.

Later that day Gandalf was making his way towards the stables and called Pippin to go with him, Merry was in a strop.
“Merry, you must listen, I never saw any of the enemies plans, I made the whole thing up!” said Pippin pulling Merry to one side.
“Then what did you see? For that is why you are going to Minas Tirith with Gandalf…” said merry.
“I cannot say… it was too… terrible,” said Pippin shaking his head and looking a little pale.
“You must speak!” said Merry.
“I cannot, if Gandalf finds out I was making it up then he’ll turn me into a lepricorn!” cried Pippin.
“Your right, but if you tell me then I won’t say anything,” promised Merry.
“Perigrim Took! Come here this instant!” called Gandalf from the stables.

Pippin made his way towards the call and Gandalf picked him up and sat him on top of Shadowfax.
“We will see each other again, wont we?” asked Pippin.
“I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going to happen yet,” said Merry tears filling his eyes.
“Shadowfax, ride… ride like the wind!” cried Gandalf and the horse sped off out of the village and onto the Rohan Plains. Merry ran up the ladders to the watchers tower to see him off and as he reached the top Aragorn pursued him.
“He’s gone,” said Merry as he watched Gandalf’s horse cross a river in the distance. “We did everything together… told each other everything….”
“Did he tell of what he saw in the Palantir?” asked Aragorn suspiciously.
“Err, well he told everyone didn’t he? About the enemies plans…” said Merry hesitating.
At this Aragorn grabbed his shoulder and pulled him round to face him, Aragorn knelt down and looked into the scared hobbits eyes. “I saw something when I picked up that stone… only for a second… but I know it wasn’t He from the Land of Shadow that he saw. ‘He’ was someone else, which I also saw,” Aragorn then let his head fall; his face was troubled.
“Tell me! Tell me who did you see?” asked Merry.
“Tell you? I thought you already knew! That’s why I was asking you about it. What else did Pippin see?”
“I do not know, Gandalf took him before he told me… but I know it wasn’t anything to do with the Enemy…”
“Then I will tell you who I saw…” started Aragorn, “Last night I was speaking to Legolas… and by the way you must not tell a living soul about it… understand? Anyway, I have found out a discovery that the Legolas we knew has changed… all the way from the falls of Rauros. He had been switched. Orlando Bloom is his name, the real Legolas went to find his girlfriend who he missed…” Aragorn then stood up and started to pace up and down his face full of frustration, “This girlfriend I learned was half elven, and the moment Orlando told me that information my Evenstar began to glow… Then I heard the commotion from the hall where you and Pippin had been sleeping. When I came into the room and snatched the stone from Pippin… I saw the face of…” Aragorn stamped his foot and cried out in rage, “The traitor! How could he?”
“Who? Who did you see?” asked Merry eagerly.
“Legolas Greenleaf of the Woodland Realm!” cried Aragorn, “Legolas, my own friend, like a brother he was… in Rivendell with Arwen!”
“Oh dear!” cried Merry, “You mean his been ‘having it off’ with your mrs?”
“Well, she’s not my mrs yet,” said Aragorn, “and after this I don’t think she’ll ever be! That’s why I asked because I knew Pippin must have seen more…”
“You mean he might have seen them…well you know… doing stuff?” asked Merry, “But would Elrond allow it?”
“I wouldn’t be surprised! He disagrees with me entirely; I mean she swore to sacrifice her immortal life!” cried Aragorn picking up a rock and throwing it over the side.
“But… I don’t understand… She gave you her evenstar!” said Merry.
“Well that is another thing I found out… I saw her wearing a brand new one, Legolas must have bought her!” said Aragorn. “It must have been going on longer than I thought… she probably though, ‘I’ll get rid of the other one, give it to Aragorn…make him think I am giving him my life…’ the cheeky bleep!”
“Oh my… but why did the ground shake and why was Pippin so afraid?” asked Merry.
“I guess that Legolas sensed that he was being watched… and we all know Legolas when his mad… I can just visualise his face back in Moria when that blasted Orc shot at us as we were trying to jump that huge chasm!”
“I didn’t notice, I was underneath one of Boromir’s armpits as he jumped the chasm… no disrespect to the dead but… god he reeked!” said Merry.
“Hmm, Legolas must have been so angry that he made the Palantir stick to Pippin’s hands,” Continued Aragorn not paying attention, “making it become inflamed…. Making the ground underneath him shake to teach him not to tell another soul about it!”
“But what should we do? I mean Gandalf is riding to the aid of a city that does not need any!” cried Merry.
“Well, it may be that it needs aid, I mean Sauron is still at war with the world of men, and it is quite probable that he would soon wage war on the city of Gondor, after all its only ten miles away from Mordor,”
“Your right, so maybe it was a good idea that Pippin made that up, otherwise if Sauron was to wage war then we wouldn’t even know about it,”
“Yes, bless that dear Pippin! Bless him!” cried Aragorn.
“But this Orlando guy… is he any good? I mean as good as Legolas was?” asked Merry.
“Yes, he seems to be, but I think he needs to keep his ears in tacked a little, they keep falling off,” said Aragorn.
“He has fake pointy ears?” laughed merry, “Wow, I can’t wait to talk to him about this…”
“NO! Nobody must find out!” said Aragorn, “He is still Legolas in our eyes, and he has proved to be a good one so far, so lets not put him down or let him know that he is any different from the real one!”
“Eye, eye captain,” said Merry and soluted.

The End for now. But will Aragorn forgive Arwen? What did Pippin actually see? to be continued....

here you go!

After three days of riding they came to Minas Tirith, they rode into the city that was built into the mountain and made their way to the very top where Denethor, Steward of Gondor dwelt. Gandalf pulled up outside the hall and dismounted his horse, falling onto his face as he caught his foot under Pippin’s leg.
“Now, do not speak to freely,” said Gandalf after picking Pippin up and placing him on the ground, “Do not mention anything about Aragorn or Boromir…news of Boromir’s death may spark fireworks…”
“Fireworks bigger than yours Gandalf?” asked Pippin.
“Well actually, its best that you don’t speak at all Perigrim Took,” said Gandalf.

So they went inside the hall and began making their way towards a bent over figure with grey long hair, a bald spot and an old rag rapped around his shoulders.
“Greetings Denether Steward of Gondor,” said Gandalf, “I bring tiding of war, Sauron is close now, you must be ready to fight!”
“Is that all you have come to tell me?” asked Denether raising his head and looking at them with stern eyes, “Why not tell how ugly I am? How I have not washed my hair for days, or cut and scrubbed my fingernails, how my breath stinks of rotten meat…or maybe you can tell me about this,” in his hands was a horn cut in half, “Perhaps you can tell me why my son is now dead,”
Gandalf could not answer he was so stunned at the fact that Denether was right… his finger nails were terribly dirty, his teeth were almost green, and his hair looked like he had washed it under an Orc’s armpit.
But to Gandalf’s amazement Pippin stepped forward, “Boromir fell defending my kinsmen and I from many foes. When he blew on the horn he dropped it, and then an Orc ran at him which he slew, but unfortunately he landed on the horn in quite a painful fashion, making it split….”
At this Denether, who had been caressing the horn with kisses and rubbing it along his unshaven face, let the horn drop to floor and began wiping his hands upon his tattered robes.
Pippin then offered his service in payment of Boromir’s death. Later that night Pippin was on the balcony.
“Gandalf, I know you think I’m a fool, and I agree with you…” started Pippin.
“HA! Well the day has come at last!!” cried Gandalf.
“I know, never though I’d admit it!” said Pippin.
“What are you talking about Pippin? I was talking about that beam in the distance! It’s coming from the Witch King’s lair!”
“Oh, ok then, great,” said Pippin solemnly, “What does that mean?”
“Well he his soon to lead an army a hundred times greater than Saruman’s that attacked us at Helms Deep,”
“Great, that’s encouraging,” said Pippin.
“But don’t worry if we should die!” said Gandalf, “For death is just another journey that we all must take!"
“OH god! Even death sounds exhausting! I’m so sick and tired of journeys!” said pippin
“Yes but this one would be worth while,” said Gandalf.
“Gandalf, for Galadriel’s sake! Listen to me!” said Pippin.
“What is it little Pip?” asked Gandalf.
“And don’t call me little Pip, you make me sound like a pip from an apple!” said Pippin and then he continued, “Well I have to tell you Gandalf, even though you’ll probably turn me over to the Witch King yourself… I lied about what I saw in the Palantir!”.
“You what???????????????????” Cried Gandalf, “Fool of a Took!”
“Yes Gandalf, I am a fool, a fool for not telling you,” said Pippin, “But not only that, we have come to Gondor to protect it, for Sauron will soon release his army! And if I had never lied to you about what I saw, we would still be in Gondor, and we would never know because Denether said he would never light the beacons!”
“Your right Pippin! Well done!” said Gandalf, “But what exactly did you see?”
“Err well, that’s difficult,” said Pippin, “But I’ll have to tell someone sooner or later. I saw Legolas in it. He was in Rivendell with Arwen and another elf maiden who he held hands with, then the Elf Maiden left and he was alone with Arwen. He started shouting at her asking why she had given Aragorn her precious stone. Asking why she had lied to him about her feelings, why she didn’t want to spend eternity with him. Arwen was in tears and told him she wanted to stay with Aragorn because she could, she was half elven and he was soon to be king. Legolas begged her to come with him to Mirkwood, but she refused. Legolas then sat down and gave her a stone; it was red and bright and was upon a silver chain. He helped her put it on. But then he went all weird… he looked straight at me! ‘We are being watched!’ he raged and came at me telling me to piss off and mind my own business whoever I was. Then he made the Palantir glow and become inflamed. That’s when Aragorn came in…”
“Pippin, my dear Pippin, are you sure it was Legolas? You know how elves resemble each other,” said Gandalf.
“Yes it was, but I don’t know how, because Legolas was with us,” said Pippin
“I know something that may shock you,” said Gandalf, “Legolas is not Legolas but a boy called Orlando Bloom. He has been Orlando since the falls of Rauros. When I first come across Aragorn Gimli and him, I knew straight away he wasn’t Legolas, so he told me, telepathically. Though he is mortal he has been blessed with that gift by the elves.”
“So, Legolas must have been with Arwen,” said Pippin, “This is terrible!”

Will Aragorn ever find out what Pippin saw? How will he react? Will Denether ever have a wash? To be continued…
