Yes of course you can, just put yourself in one of our shoes if Luthien asked you out or summat. No-one on this thread will take the mickey, not seriously anyway or I will give them a serious verbal bashin. Or let the moderators do that for me lol...

Beleg was cool, just sucked that Turin killed him. Ironic like that he dies by the blade that was given to him lol.

Beleg was pretty cool, but his name just doesn't seem very....elvish. Overall, though, he was awesome. The best woodsman west of the Ered Luin.

Why doesnt his hame seem elvish? Beleg sounds a bit wierd on its own but Beleg Cuthalion or Beleg Strongbow certainly sounds Elvish M8. At least I think that... 8)

Cuthalion sounds elvish, but Beleg? It sounds to abrupt to be elvish. It doesn't flow like their names normally do.

It doesn't sound abrupt to me.....it ends in a soft 'l', not a hard 'g'. Therefore it goes fine, and seems Elvish. 'Beleg' though, sounds almost mannish.

Sinsarin Elvish however didnt get all the flourishes that Quenya got in Valinor therefore it would have been a bit more gutteral sounding as opposed to the quenya.

True, but my point still is that it doesn't sound very Elvish (to me) compared to the rest of their names.
If he had had just a slightly different name, he would've been one of the coolest characters in the book.

I love Luthién! She has one of the most sad and interesting love stories of all time. Not to mention she also is a wonderful heroine who can almost compare to Eowyn in a way.

Lol, Luthien far surpasses Eowyn. All Eowyn did was kill the Witch-king. Luthien not only had Sauron surrender to her, she enchanted Morgoth as well! That's a far greater accomplishment than simply killing a Nazgul.....plus, Luthien was way more beautiful than Eowyn (I'm a big Luthien fan).

:teehee: In expressing my jealousy of Luthien, I seem to have sparked quitea few emotions. All the boys are in love with her now, or they remember that they are at any rate. It's rather comical actually.
I agree with Larael however. I think there are certain similarities between the characters of Luthien and Eowyn, although, I also agree with Aerandir that Luthien surpasses Eowyn.
To the above conversation, I will have to say that Beleg sounds like the name of a Man rather than an Elf, at least to me. It's probably just because it reminds me of the names Beregond or Bergil from LOTR:ROTK.

i think Beleg was THE coolest elf in the Silmarillion. i was so sad and disappointed when he died. especially because he was trying to save Turin! imean come on! i feel bad for Turin because he felt terrible for what he did. but Beleg was the coolest. as for Luthien, she was very cool too. like when her and Huan went after Beren and she overcame sauron and enchanted Morgoth. that's cool. and when she wore the Silmaril, she was even more beautiful then before. too bad it was too much for her and Beren and they died because of the light from the silmaril. but Beleg is the best.

I find it really funny that when Beleg tries to track Turin it takes him ages and he says "one might take this to be an elvish band"
Brilliant!!!
