I like Yavanna, because she created flowers, tree, and pretty much nature in general.

I went for something different, it seems. I've never been particularly attached to any of the Valar in the way I've been attached to other charactrs of Tolkien's.
So I said Ulmo, since he was the first Vala I really read about, since I read Unfinished Tales before the Silmarillion... he was on the front cover. So he was the first of the valar that became not just a name, but an actual character for me.

Varda, I just like her the most. Don't know why. Perhaps because I love wachting the stars.

Orome... now that I think about it- he was the Lord of Forests, and I love forests and trees...

I'd have to say Vana the Ever-Young, though I'm not completely sure why. I just think she's awesome.

I suppose I most identify with Orome and Varda... I love the stars and the night sky, but I also love forests and the old idea of the hunter and protector...

*WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT SHE IS VERY MUCH ANTI-HUNTING THESE DAYS!*

Mmmm, let me see, I think I posted something like this a long time ago on the old forum. Now it's been a while since I've read the Silmarillion but I remember I liked the way all the valar complement the others, and I liked the reference to old mythologies (e.g. Norse and Greek). All the valar have their own special qualities but they complete and inhabit Arda together. They could not accomplish the huge task on their own so they are interdependent in a very nice way.

True... I love mythology so The Silmarillion was very much an addictive book for me.

Varda, the Lady of the Stars. There's no Vala in the book that created a masterpiece greater than the stars. She has a beautiful name as well.

Hehe, please Serethiel... we've had that discussion before!! And we all know that the elves back then weren't all saints!!!
I think Aulë was so kind in his fondness of the dwarves.... after all he was just a boy with his toy... he wanted to create something too!!! And you can't blame Aulë for how his creation behaves!!!

I chose Ulmo. I don't really know why. I just love the sea I guess.
