But on the other hand Tolkien few pages later says she had blue eyes ... Couldn't he simply decide which of those?!

I know what "Dagnir" means in German, I hope I can explain it in English.
Dagnir is something like a killer or a slayer.
Túrin Turambar killed Glaurung, so he was called "Dagnir Glaurunga", the Killer of Glaurung.
It's a sindarin word.
