Perhaps Elwing and Earendil. Their story is very - how should I say this - very poetic. (Not a good choice of word, eh?). But it does paint pretty pictures in my head. One of them was an elf and the other was human. I forgot which was which. :bye2:

Elwing was half-elven and Earendil was a human.

Thanks for telling me that! I was trying to figure that out myself. :bye2:

Actually i believe they were both half elf and half human. Earendil was the son of Idril Celebrindal and a mortal, Tuor, and Elwing was descended from Luthien and Beren. Hope that helps! :bye2:

Anyway, it is a beautiful story and I see why you came up with the word poetic, Elberethsq! It's been a while since I read it (I haven't got my own copy of the Silmarillion yet) but the image I recall when think of it is Elwing turning into a bird to get to see Eärendil

I love all the couples of Middle-earth but my fav would have to be Galadriel and Celeborn. Then Eowyn and Faramir because of the way they fell in love was so nice. I love the love story of Arwen and Luthien as well but in some ways it doesn't seem as realistic. But if you mean by which one is more interesting I would have to say Beren and Luthien. I love Arwen's story as well for it's many meanings and twists.

Heres what the Encyclopedia of Arda said about Elwing and Earendil:

About Earendil:
Eärendil's father was a Man, and his mother an Elf, so he and his wife Elwing and their sons were given the choice of race to which they wished to belong. Elwing chose Elvenkind, and Eärendil did so too for her sake. He now sails the high airs with the Silmaril upon his brow, shining as the morning and evening star.

About Elwing:
Elwing's mother Nimloth had, as far as we know, pure Sindarin blood. The line of her father Dior, though, contained other strains; his grandmother Melian had been a Maia, and his father Beren was a mortal Man. Working back to her great-grandparents, Elwing was actually five-eighths Sinda, one quarter Mortal and one eighth Maia.

Hope that settles it.

^wow, thanks for the information! It helps. I was trying to figure it out myself, but I think I got lost within their family background. Now I'm still not all that sure, but thanks so much, Larael Greenleaf, and EarielMaurwen! :bye2:

You're welcome also from me, Elberethsq!

And Larael, it was interesting to find out exactly what portions of which race Elwing was. :bye2:

Lúthien and Beren are my favourite. They're so lovely but I think there're lots of nice couples in the Sil but Lúthien and Beren are my personal favourite couple...

Tuor and Idril Celebrindal. Even though the whole business with Turin and Nienor was a bit...it still was the most tragic love story I had ever heard. Romeo and Juliet doesn't even come close

Even though I love all of the couples, I thought Luthien and Beren was most certainly the best--I think it would make the most interesting movie, anyway. But it was wonderful and beautiful and...and...I'm searching for a word...brilliantly mystic like :bounce:
