No offence to anyone who likes Feanor, but I hate him. Too cocky for his own good after making the Silmarils.
My favorite is actually Maedhors, I think he's just misguided and in the end utterly lost.
Next is Maglor, whom I think followed his brother's erring.
Favorite Vala: Manwe. Not totally sure why.

Mine is Nienna...there isn't a whole lot about her but what you read is just captivating! And her name sounds just musical! It used to be my username everywhere until it got to popular...
...I also like Nienor Niniel. Her story is a true classic. Galadriel is a great character too...

I love Nienna! But my favourite character is Feanor.
maybe cuz of he's so powerful and at the same time I think he was weak for being so easilly led on by Morgul. And I just love the way Tolkien describes his death.

Dude. It seems like a lot of you guys like Feanor the best. Hmph. He wasn't that cool...I mean, he indirectly caused tons of pain and darkness that could have been prevented otherwise....
Finrod's way cooler.

Oh i think my favorite characters out of all the books inculding the Sill would have to be Elwing and Earendil. I know its two, but they just belong together, the devotion, love, and determination to face such perilous odds. I will post my poem of Earendil i wrote now that i though about it.

Elwing and Earendil more than Beren and Luthien? Wow...that's a first.
I kind of equate them on the same lines, though I think Beren and Luthien went through more together, going to Angbad and all...

túrin turumbar. quite possibly one of the greatest tragedies i've ever read.
honorable mentions go to his father húrin and fingolfin of the noldor, whose brave deeds in the face of morgoth himself are just plain inspiring.

Yes, Narn I Hîn Húrin, The Tale of the Children of Húrin, is my favourite story in the Silmarillion, too. And in this story, but also in the shole Sil, Nienor is definitely my favourite character!

I find that story too depressing. The Tale of Beren and Luthien is a little more enjoyable, simply because it's not that depressing.
