If you were a Vala and could change the fate of one character in The Silm or LotR, who would it be and why?

[Got this idea while snooping around the old forum... ]

I'd probably let Beren live so that he and Luthien would be able to live together for the remainder of there days. Or I'd change Nienor and Turin's for their story is yet another sad one.

I`d make Feanor survive and marry me ... ::dreamy sigh::

I'd have Fingolfin survive his fight with Morgoth. And win with any luck, and then Beleriand would still be above the sea

I think I'd make Finrod survive when he saves Beren.

^Finrod is one of my favorite characters. *weeps*

I might make the story of Feanor and his sons less harsh for them. It's hard to know what to do, though, since every change effects everything else.

I would probably make Maedhros not silmarrilion crazy so he would live and then I would make him marry me. Oh yes, me and my Maedhros fetish. Hee hee.

I would make Maglor rescind the oath, as he eventually wanted to, rather than giving in to Maedhros' will and stealing the silmarils from Eonwe...and maybe have him convince Maedhros (whom I also like) to repent with him.

i think that i would change the story of feanor and the silmarills
cause that is what started all the sorrow and complications with morgoth aand the other elves then most of the other stories might have turned out less tragic
