Post subject: | Elvish LotR project |
Okay there's another topic about this posted by Morwen1379 and this was what actually alerted me to what was apparently Tolkien's greatest wish and a pretty good idea anyway. Well he wanted to get LotR translated to Elvish and so I've decided to go ahead and give it a shot. A one thousand page book is kinda daunting to try and translate so I was wondering if there were any of you guys who wanted to help me. We could asign ourselves chapters or something. So here's a few things we (if anyone wants to help me) need to work out. First is which language to translate it into. Quenya has more Vocabulary than Sindarin by a good four hundred words so it might be easier. So yeah I thought it would be pretty cool to try and full-fill his last wish so if you're interested just comment ^_^ |

That's an exciting project you've got there! Do you think it'd be easiar to use one language, or perhaps occasionally have someone speak in Sindarin? I do believe you've got something though; if there's more availible in one language, choose it. |

I'm not entirely sure... probably do quenya first depending on whether I found it easy to translate it or not. And if I can't find the right word try and substitiute a sindarin one... I'm still trying to do the prologue and I have no idea if I have it right XD |

That's a fabulous idea, though very time consuming. Go for it. Wish I could help, but I could never figure out Quenya verb conjugation. |

I am still a Sindarin student, very beginner as well... I ordered 'The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-Earth' From Tolkien Town and I should have it by January (I sent it to my gramma's house and she's coming then). It should be helpful, it looks like a wonderful book. |

I might try helping too if I have any spare time. I am fairly Quenya adept. ![]() |

That would be a great idea. I would agree with using Quenya as a language. I would really like to help, even though I have done only a few lessons. But, if I can help in anyway just contact me! ![]() |
