That's something I noticed the last time I read The Unfinished Tales, and thought was funny. I think it was just because Fëanor probably had a very domineering way of asking. I think it definitely had a lot to do with his attitude, at least.

yeah I agree. I think Galadriel saw what he was like and how domineering he could be. I think that's why she didn't give him one hair.

Three is a magic number. Maybe it's really randomness but three is used a lot in such occasions

Lol, Aerlinn. I don't think he was being all that serious. However, Tolkien does use it a lot.

And yeah, TN--The Unfinished Tales really did explain a ton of things that The Silmarillion didn't really cover.

Oh..I shall definitely have to get it now. :D I loved the Sil so much and it'd be great to read a little bit more about it. Is it..like..soo "detaily" like the Sil is though?

It actually is a collection of Tolkien's writings and stuff, (for instance, "Of the Istari" was an essay he wrote) none of which were fully complete. Christopher Tolkien put them together into the book with a sort of commentary thing by himself at the end, explaining where the ideas came from, etc. It's much more piecemeal than The Silmarillion.

Yeah I agree you definitely should get the UT. There's so much information in it that is not in the Sil and especially if you love the Sil ur gonna like the UT as well.

Really? It's normally a lot easier to find cheaper things online, like at Half.com. :) That's where I get everything.

I didn't know that about Galadriel. I'm going to have to get more books.

Having/reading more books definitely helps, Risestel. There are lots of tidbits that are found in some books that explain things in others.
