I just wondered if everyone here read all of his books or did you just read the LotR-books? which books did you read or are you reading right now/going to read soon?
I read the LotR-books, The Hobbit and I am reading The Silmarillion at the moment and after that I will read News from Middle-Earth. These were the books I found at ebay.
What other books are there?
Thanks for answering
Elenya

I've read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth, Farmer Giles of Ham, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Book of Lost Tales I, and The Book of Lost Tales II.
I still have to read the other books in the History of Middle-earth section, and Roverandom. And maybe a few others.

Well, I have read the LotR-trilogy and the Silmarilion...
I heard of a book called Christmas Letters with letters Tolkien has written to his... er... niece/nephew pretending to be Santa Claus.
Has anyone heard of it? I might consider getting it... for next Christmas!

I just saw a book with all of Tolkien's letters, but I am not sure if it's the book you mean...

^ they're two separate books. there is a book called the letters of j.r.r. tolkien, which is a collection of letters he wrote to friends/family/publishers/fans (the one you were thinking of); and then there's a book called the father christmas letters, which is a collection of letters he wrote to his own children, pretending to be father christmas (the one eä was thinking of).
personally, i've read the lord of the rings, the hobbit, the silmarillion, the unfinished tales, roverandom, the adventures of tom bombadil, farmer giles of ham, smith of wooton major and leaf by niggle. i've also started the first of the histories of middle earth and read a few of his letters.
there should be a complete list of his most commonly published works in the front of any of his books. or, if you're feeling particularly conscentious, there's a list of everything tolkien ever wrote (inc essays and poems published in magazines) in the back of humphrey carpenter's biography of him. a lot of that stuff would take some serious tracking down, but i intend to do it someday.

Yes, the book I was referring to was the Christmas letters. I just saw an add for it, but it was a little too late to get it for Christmas...
I would actually like to read the book with the collection of Tolkien's letters concerning LotR. I have seen them referred many times here and other places but I have never seen the book in book stores. (Well, thankfully we have Amazon.com then).

yeah, the letters are really interesting - there's a lot to learn about middle-earth in there, but you also get a real sense of his personality shining through.

I am reading the silmarillion at the moment and I love it. I'm reading all the time, in the bus, in the train, if I wait on the bus or train but it's kind of hard to read there, I always look at the card and I have to concentrate.

I've read The hobbit, Lotr trilogy, and The Silmarillion. I've read parts of the Book of Lost Tales Part 2 but I had to return it to the library before I was done I've also read part of Roverandom, but it was a long time ago. Good book though.
