Quote: The Children of Húrin is an epic fantasy novel which forms the completion of a tale by J. R. R. Tolkien. He wrote the original version of the story in the late 1910s, revised it several times later, but did not complete it before his death in 1973. What is driving me mad the names :/ but this pure Tolkien style and I am still in chapter 4 so; I expect great sadness.

Oh yeah, it is very sad. Even after reading the story in the Silmarillion, so I already knew what was basically going to happen, it still made me sad.
I have a handy ring-binder which I've got printouts of all the family trees and an a-z section of all names in LotR, the Hobbit, the Sil, CoH, and I'm adding things from Unfinished Tales and HoMe. I'm going to have to print off the updated list soon. It helps me keep track of all the characters because there are so many, especially in the Sil!

It's indeed sad, I never knew of dark elves and Saeros. I am so sad already. This story is really darker than any thing I've read for him before ... P.S. Can you share this family tree?

It's story from the first age about Húrin who is cursed with the doom of his house (family and kines). It's darker than LotR and the Hobbit. LotR and The Hobbit are rated G but this might be PG level (darkness, kills and elf forced to run naked in the woods for his evil deeds and then his death) all means great time for us ...
P.S. Tolkien did not say stripe naked but Wikipedia said so (I was reading about Túrin so of Húrin and it came across my eyes.) Tolkien used neat writing as always...

Children of Hurin is awesome. The ending is perfect. Meaning sad. XD Tragic endings are the best kind of ending. And Turin is one of my most favorite Tolkien charries.

I know it's sad, I love sad endings (strange thing but sometimes sadness is better for the soul).
