OK, so, with the consistency of Glorfindel being portrayed as a Gay in fanfic, I'm uber-frustrated. Does it state that he's gay in a canon source? Or is it fanfic slash and/or cruel humor?

:explode: :explode: :disgust: :disgust:

no, it never states anywhere that Glorfindel is gay as far as I know. What a stupid imagination; that doesn't fit to him at all

Yeah. And it's not just 1 or 2 fics, it's ALL of them.

A lot of the fanfics I am sure portray Glorfindel this way because of his background, and his history not being as known as let's say... Frodo, or Aragorn...

don't take it to heart... I love Glorfindel to death, he is my husband in fact... <333 but it is just people making the character like that, it is not canon whatsoever...

Still....Ewww. I have a hard tiome stomaching a gay elf. If only that Tolkien based them off the pinnacle of a Catholic ideal.

Er yeah... a piece of advice: read the books. People portray all Elves as gay just because they're "pretty". Nowhere does Tolkien even imply in any shape or form that Glorfindel is gay...

hmm, it really annoys don't really understand what elves are like, but just portray them as gay.
And if you read the books the description of Glorfindel is just sooo un-gay

I have, but Tolkien, in my opinion, doesn't give us much to go on for Glorfindel.

Poor Glorfindel. So unfairly treated by everybody. :( I'd consider writing a clearly non-slash story with him in it, but I'm in the middle of two stories at the moment and I don't want to take another one on...

I fail to understand the obsession with fanfic authors making EVERBODY gay.

Poor Glorfindel.

Nor do I. I see that there is only one reason that writers could use, and that's that JRR didn't say that there wasn't a gay elf. The gits. WHY, is it always Erestor and Glorfindel, anyway? SERIOUSLY they are pretty well the only Eldar portrayed as gay by the Fanfic writers.

Someone really needs to write some non-gay/non-fangirl elvish/Glorfindel fan fiction.... A gay Glorfindel makes me sick... Sometimes I think you have to laugh though. Some people just don't have enough background in Tolkien's works to know any different... but oh well.

Yeah, Simarillion fanfiction is the way to go. There are a few exceptions, but mostly people who read the entire simarillion arn't going to do stuff like that. I hope.

Well no, probably not and I think that is because most people who have read the Silmarillion are really interested in Tolkien's work and so they'd never write anything like Glorfindel's gay or so
