ae is a dipthong that makes an "aye" sound (same with "ai"). Just like in as in Aeglos (or Aiglos), the spear of Gil-Galad.

Maedhros all the way! i dunno why, but i think he did try to be nice, even though he was still bound by his father's oath.

Maglor has always been my favourite of all Fëanoreans because of his gentle disposition . He not only took care for Elros and Elrond after their parents left , but of all Fëanor's sons he was the only one who truly regretted taking the Oath of Fëanor and was ever willing to rescind it .

Maedhros. He was the only one who wished the ships to be sent back across so the others of the Noldor could follow them.
And his other deeds show that while he swore the oath, he was still a good and honourable man (or elf, if your getting technical.)

I drawed a portrait of Maedhros once. I really hope I can post it somewhere here, because I really like it. Those who have seen it think its very good. And that he has very sad eyes.

I'd love to see it, DoF. Post it in the Fan art section.

I'm a PSOFF (Pervy Sons Of Feanor Fancier), so I lubb them all. I have a particular soft spot for Curufin and Caranthir. And I think it's Amrod. Whichever twin died in the one version.
As a side note: Has anyone seen the Tolkien pics Jenny Dolfen has done? She draws/paints a rather good looking and yummy Maedhros.

I love her art! ( www.gold-seven.deviantart.com if you want to see it!) My avatar is a bit of one of her peices! (it's Nerdanel).
My favorite is Maglor. As others have already said, he was the only one of Fëanor's sons who wanted to rescind his oath. But I love him mainly because I share his love of music. And he just seems like a great guy - or would have been if not for the terrible things he did along with his brothers. And he ended up wandering the shores forever, singing in pain and regret...poor Maggie! (yes, I've even given him a stupid nickname - what a fangirl.)

Heh. I gave our darling Maglor the nickname "Maggsie"! Suprising, how similar they are, ne?

I say Maedhros, everything about that guy was likeable (except maybe the Kinslayings ). He alone wished for the ships to be sent back to Fingolfin's host, and he healed the hurts of the Noldor by refusing the Kingship of the Noldor.
Also, his valour in battle is not to be underestimated. Morgoth had a choice of who to attack:
Maedhros with a small army
Fingolfin with a huge army
Yet he decided to attack Fingolfin because he feared Maedhros too much. I also liked the way he took pity on the sons of Earendil the Beloved, rather than having them executed. All around top man (elf) IMO

Maglor because i think he really hated the whole ordeal with the oath and he was so kind to Elrond and Elros and he had the sense not to through himself into a pit of fire with he was in pain

Maedhros and Maglor, because they were the least pleased and content with the Oath. Those two were the best.
