Oh, wow, I don't know why I'd naievely thought the names would've been the same in other languages, even if the other words -duh!- are different. I think it's so cool to see what the names are translated into. 8) It makes me wonder what the names look like in other languages. Thanks for posting them, Enwiriel!

I especially think that Goldberry's name is cute, and Rosie's name looks lovely like that. her surname is just, well, spunky! :D

And the most important that I forget is

THE LORD OF THE RINGS - TARU SORMUSTEN HERRASTA

Post subject:

wow seems i'll learn at least 2 new languages down here :D

OK a bit of Slovenian wouldn't hurt, eh?
the old - the better translation

Frodo Baggins - Frodo Bogataj i think...
Samwise Gamgee - Sam Svečar (the surname means the one who lits the candle ;) )
Peregrin Pippin Took - Peregrin Pipin Jemec
Meriadoc Merry Brandybuck - Meriadoc Srečko Mejač
The Shire - Grofija
Middle-Earth - Srednji svet
Elves - vilinci
Dwarves - škrati/škratje, i dunno which one
Men - ljudje
then uh.... oh Lord of the Rings becomes Gospodar Prstanov

then the new translation (which is totally messed up and i gave up reading after half a page *spits over the translator*)
Frodo B. -> Frodo Bisagin
Samwise Sam Gamgee -> Samoglav Sam Gamgi
Peregrin Pippin Took -> Peregrin Pipin Tuk
Meriadoc Merry Brandybuck -> Mejadok Medo (um... it kinda means a Bear?!) Brendivinc
Shire -> Å ajerska (and it's ironic cuz we have a part of the coutry named Å tajerska)
Midlle Earth remains Srednji svet :)
Elves -> vilini
Dwarves also remain škrati and so do Men - ljudje

at least the guy never changes the title..... :bones:

now the lesson is over :D
