I also like the first quote by Gandalf. I like it, because it's exactly true, and I'm going to make the most of my life here on earth.

i'm just sorry it wasn't in the movies. it would be great to see Galadriel singing and elvish song - especially in Quenya.

I think Galadriel's words to Frodo have to be some of my favorite:
“You are a ring bearer Frodo….to bear a ring of power is to be alone. This task was appointed to you. And if you do not find a way…no one will……Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”
And Aragorn's tender words and actions to the dying Boromir:
'No!' said Aragorn, taking his hand and kissing his brow. 'You have conquered. Few have gained such a victory. Be at peace! Minas Tirith shall not fall!'

Oh I love the first quote of Gandalf posted by ya Larael. It's my fav sentence in LotR. I also like what Boromir says to Frodo in the EE : Gandalf's death was not in vain. Nor would he have you give up hope. You carry a heavy burden, Frodo. Don't carry the weight of the dead.

Firiel, I had totally forgotten that Boromir said that to Frodo. That was a very tender and hopeful thing to say...and coming from Boromir. Often the encouragement came from Gandolf or Aragarn. But there was wisdom and sympathy in the heart of Boromir too even if he was less expressive of it.
I like that quote. And I really appreciate you sharing it.
