Post subject:  who is Idril Celebrindal? :confuzzled:

hi. i was looking through the appendix's in my copy of rotk and i found this charcter Idril Celebrindal and my copy says she was one of the 3 unions of the Eldar and Edain. well ok but i thought there were only 2 unions and i can't find a mention of Idril anywhere else. can anyone tell me who she is and anthing about her? she's driving me crazy!

Idril Celebrindal: The daughter of Turgon, King of Gondolin; she wedded Ulmo's messenger Tuor, and their son was EƤrendil the Mariner.

To clarify, and also because I want to quote Tolkien's lovely writing; it's all so great:

"But fairer than all the wonders of Gondolin was Idril, Turgon's daughter, she that was called Celebrindal, the Silver-foot, whose hair was as the gold of Laurelin before the coming of Melkor."

It is said in BoLT2 that she was called Celebrindal because she went around barefoot and bare-headed (it was normal for Elven-women to wear a tressure).
