Ok, so here's another speculation topic. to those who've read U-T (might be in the Sil, but i'm not finished it yet so i dunno) -when Gandlaf, Sauruman and Radagast came to middle earth there also came 2 blue istari. what do you think they were like? where did they go? why did they go? speculate away!

The 2 Blue Istari [they were called this because they arrived in Middle-Earth wearing sea-blue], Alatar and Pallando journeyed together into the East with Saruman and never returned to the Western lands [though Saruman did.] I'm not sure what they could have wanted in the East, and i'm not sure why they did not return to the West. My guess is that maybe they did not wish to meddle in Saruman and Sauron's war, so they stayed there. Or they may have returned to the Valar. Not much is known about what they did after Saruman returned from the East without them. =/ |

Yeah, I think waaaaayyyy east. Past where the map cuts off. That really bugs me. There's this corner of a continent, but the rest isn't shown. I want to see it! Its one of those things that makes you wonder "Whats going on over there. Maybe a whole other story!" |

I think they went to the east to try and get the people who lived there out from under Sauron's dominion. However, Tolkien speculated that since they never returned to Valinor, they most likely either fell to Sauon, like Saruman did, or abandoned their mission, like Radagast. |

I have long speculated not only what became of the blue wizards, but what the lands east of Mordor look like. Perhaps the blue wizards were murdered by Saruman in an early attempt to gain power, or perhaps they chose to stay in the eastern lands. There could be new, undiscovered countries beyond the Iron Hills. |

Well, surely very little is known of the Blue Istari, also known as Ithryn Luin. Before Tolkien's death, there was pretty much no recordings of them, but Christopher Tolkien published a bit here and there. A little information can be found in The Unfinished Tales and the Letters. Their names were Alatar and Pallando. Truly, they travelled east in the second age, probably to help those who rebelled against Sauron. They received the names Morinehtar and Romestamo by the people in Middle Earth which means "Dark-slayer" and "East-helper". Their fate is unknown, but some writings says that they might have failed their fight against Sauron. It is said that out of all five Istari, Gandalf is the only one to have succeeded. Radagast is said to have strayed off his mission in becoming enamoured with nature, and we all know what happened to Saruman. There is nothing said of The Blue Wizards fate, though, but my guess is that they came within Sauron's grasp and converted to evil. Quoting Letter 211, written in 1958: "What success they had I do not know; but I fear that they failed, as Saruman did, though doubtless in different ways; and I suspect they were founders or beginners of secret cults and 'magic' traditions that outlasted the fall of Sauron." So my guess is, that after Sauron's fall the two dwelled in the south east and in secret began those cults and magic traditions. Who knows, maybe they even started wars in Middle-eart in the Fourth Age to get revenge for Sauron's death. Just some of my thoughts.

It's an interesting opportunity for a fan fiction, that's for sure. I prefer to imagine that they merely strayed, like Radagast, as opposed to falling to Sauron. |

Without saying too much... Not a fan fic with the blue istari... but something like it, which is, in my opinion, better, is being made right now.

About the blue Istaris, there are very mysterious Tolkin's characters (they are not alone  ). but There are pretty much information about them here:

Of course it's annoying that we don't know what is after the main lands in Middle-Earth but not like "a hwal story" if you know what i mean, Maybe there are just wastelands.. marshes and wildness? -Read about the Istari's
