In case you haven’t heard or caught onto the clues we mods have sprinkled throughout the forum, the Revival is finally under way! (for additional information, click
HERE) The whole point of the Revival is to rekindle our love for the Lord of the Rings, and it all starts with the books.
There are essentially three months to summer in the Northern Hemisphere: June, July, and August. Here at A-U we will be reading one book per month:
June- The Fellowship of the Ring (FotR)
July- The Two Towers (TTT)
August- The Return of the King (RotK)
Whether you have read the books a hundred times, never, or quit halfway through, we’d love for you to read along with us! These books are so laden with detail, that I guarantee you will find something new each time you read.
We mods will be posting discussion questions of varying levels of depth throughout the month, but we encourage you to ask questions as well!
As some of the questions may pertain to morals and other sensitive subjects, we ask that you handle every topic in a mature fashion, and remember that political and religious discussion is forbidden. This is not to restrict you, or to discourage you from thinking about LotR in such terms, but because A-U is not the place for those types of discussions. It has been proven time and time again that those types of discussions have led to fights, immaturity, and hard feelings. It is possible to discuss things without referencing politics or a specific religion. It really is.
If you have never read the LotR books before, or have tried and been unsuccessful, please do not be discouraged! We want everyone to participate in the discussions and general LotR nerd-dom, so for guided reading schedules and tips for reading, please see
HERE
Now, for some questions to get you started, see
HERE.
Since we will be focusing on FotR for the month of June, most of the questions will be specific to FotR, but there will be some that pertain to all three books. Please post questions in appropriate sections.
Please note that you do not have to read the books along with us in order to participate in the discussions, but we highly encourage it.
Happy Reading!
(if you have any questions regarding this particular area of the revival, please PM Bellethiel)
