Do you consider The Hobbet to be part of the Lord of the Rings series or

do you look at it as a seperate book the has something to do with the

series but is not part of it?

i like to think of it as part of it. whenever i read the books i always read the hobbet first. without that book there would be no Lord of the Rings.

I don't consider it part of the series so much as a prologue. You know? Most of the time you can understand a book without reading the prologue, and you can understand LotR without The Hobbit, but The Hobbit sort of sets the scene.

i suppose you're right in a way. i never read the prolouge myself. i always find them rather boring to be honest. but it is still part of the series to me.
