I suppose the main page revival would require someone with edit access. It doesn't appear anyone who has that capability is around anymore or don't have the time to put out the effort.

Yeah, I talked to two mods who had that access back when I was trying to get the revival going previously but even though they had access neither of them could remember how to do it... the site owner does not have the time. (Though I am sure she could if she desired)
Unfortunately with the main page being clearly long neglected and those who can change that long past... I am unsure what options are left to us for getting that portion of the site up-to-date

The same thing is happening on Council of Elrond. I just noticed they haven't posted anything on their main page since March 2016.

Anywhoo... (Just had to do it)
I am going to try and contact the webmaster again and see if I can come to any kind of arrangement. If nothing else... I'm sticking with this site until it's offline. It holds too much for me from good times long past. (Maybe I just have letting go issues)
So, even if it turns to a ghost town... I'll still be here.
If you do revamp your site do share it here, I can always manage to stop into a second LOTR website, but this will always be my internet home.

Love that speech!
I always dream big but in the end I find little time to make it happen. I think I would rather 'work for someone else' instead of running the whole show.

I'll look into revitalizing my message board. I have global status on Runboard, and I had my board fashioned after this site in the 'blue' format (which I use here). It wasn't as 'fancy' as this place, but it was really user friendly and functional. The only issue is it is hosted by Runboard, and should they go under then the site would be lost. They however have a really good backup as they were birthed out of the great EZ Board hack and crash of May 31st 2005. I created it about the same time I registered here but I'll need to re-activate it as it has been some time since I have accessed it.

When I tried to connect to the site earlier this morning I was getting a connection error for both the forum and the main page. I'm going to archive our current RP threads in case of disaster. Not thinking that anything will happen, but should it, the writings will be safe. Having lost an epic RP in the past to a site server crash in the past, I take archiving seriously. That RP was a grand one covering the Battles of the Fords of Isen spanning two years, with six writers, and several hundred posts, most rather lengthy and detailed. I was able to find the thread and the first page on the wayback machine, but it had defaulted to ten posts per page and all other pages were not archived there. Anyway, if there is anything you hold dear that is posted here, I suggest taking the time to save it to your local drive or dropbox or something.
I gained access to my old board, and I am in the process of cleaning up the coding and such. It was called 'Arnor's Twilight', but I was thinking of changing the name. Any ideas???

Yeah, I got the same thing earlier... had me a little concerned. :/
That's a good idea. How is the easiest way to do that? Surely there is a better way than copy and past it post by post or is there not?
Cool. I'll look up the forum. As for names Arnor's Twilight sounds like a cool name. No ideas currently coming to me but if I think of one I will toss in in the mix.

Sadly, there isn't a reliable way to do it other than post-by-post. Time consuming for huge ones. I tried to copy each page to a word doc, then edit out the board stuff,but it was just as much work as copying just the posts.
Anyway.... I have been doing some surreptitious advertising in various places. ...

Hello Bandani, and welcome to the site ... sort of.  I joined in between Jax Nova's last two posts in this thread, and there was still a lot more activity back then in 2017. What brought me to this site was a suggestion of Hanasian's, whose last post in this thread is just before Jax Nova's last two. He posted this suggestion on another LoTR site, which I had joined in November 2013, when the second Hobbit film "Desolation of Smaug" was still pending, and there was much more activity on that site back then. It too had had a bit of a revival, possibly also around 2011, as the Hobbit films were known to be in the making. But unlike say (very much so) the "Marvel Universe", which produces about a new film per year, the "Middle-earth Universe" does not. That Amazon TV series about something in Middle-earth did raise a moderate ripple of interest when the first information about their intentions started circulating, but as no known dates (known to me at least) for release exist, that ripple has also pretty much died down. And release of this version on a TV channel that has (at least in Germany, where I live) a decidedly smaller viewership that any but the smallest of private channels, and not a world-wide film release of what is expected to be a blockbuster film, probably shrinks interest in it (to mix a metaphor) from a mountain to a molehill. Things have been very quiet here for perhaps the last two week (and at that other site, too) something I very much regret. Perhaps their very existence at the present time is what is to be wondered at more that the lack of activity … _________________
