I don't really know... Okay, I like her (epic sentences!), but... you know, in this movie, elves are kind of over the top. They kill nearly everything and that just makes me sad. Half of the elven - scenes are Legolas or Tauriel killing loads of orcs. That's just inhuman or inorc or whatever. PJ could do much better! I still like her, but I don't like all this useless violence. I'm just saying. On the other hand, I think it's quite good to have a female elf, so you can see it's a bit difference to men in Middleearth.

Yea, there's is lots of violence in PJ's movies, but I think that PJ is trying to turn the Hobbit into action movie, and action movies usually contain violence, so.. but I'm not saying that I like the violence in the Hobbit. Or in any movie.

Yepp, I like Tauriel... even if she's kind of... a killer, one could say. Nevermind. She's a thousand times cooler than Legolas or his father.

Yep. She's cooler than than the Hobbit version of Legolas. I don't know why but Legolas in Lotr and Legolas in Hobbit aren't the same person. Of course they're both the same character, but they're just not similar as they should be.

I got that impression too... PJ should have made him to be more similar in behaviour to LotR's Legolas so that he would at least come off convincingly. Because it looked as if we got a different character, well, in most of his scenes.

I also really liked Tauriel when I saw the film, I was sceptical, but I think it was the right thing to create another female role. I thought she was really great I didn't like her better than Legolas, but then I'd waited over 10 years to see Legolas on the big screen again- and watching my all time favourite was like being transported back in time, so maybe I'm a teensy bit biased. I didn't think he was that different to what we saw in LotR- broader shoulders, bluer eyes, wider jaw, not playing captain obvious definitely- but we still saw he was loyal and fearless, and disliked dwarves. I guess he came across as more of a warrior in the Hobbit- but then he didn't have to play second fiddle to Aragorn who was the big action hero and PJ had a bigger budget to make him do cooler stuff so that every moment was a "Leggy Moment". Plus we're seeing him before LotR- so it's kind of right he would be a bit different-he's in his home, and not a foreigner of a strange race. And he's following (and later going against) his fathers rules, so he's in a very different situation- it's kind of more believable that he's not entirly the same character.

^^ I haven't thought that before, but now it makes sense. That explains most of his changed behavior, but there's still something odd that doesn't make any sense. But maybe if I watch the Hobbit 2 couple of times more, I'll get used to it.

I finally confess that I don't hate her; indeed I love her character but still Kili and Fili must always end as the book said so it will be sad for her and us .

Tauriel is difficult for me to describe how I feel about her. One the one hand: She is very kick-butt and strong and I love that. She also does have some pretty good lines at times. On the other hand... It feels as though she is there to simply be the point of a love triangle that never existed in the first place and it ticks me off. A lot of the stuff she does is centred around that in some form. Still keeping an open mind that Battle of the Five-Armies might sway my thoughts about her, but I'll just have to wait to find out.

I still like that a female character has been created, and that this female can fight and stand her ground in an overall male-lead stroy. I also like how Legolas values her skills and knowledge, but I suspect he's not entirely professional about that Like you said Rinoa, it feels as if Tauriel was mainly created to be part of a love triangle between three very unlikely parties, and so far all her actions have been determined (although sometimes indirectly) by Kili or Legolas. I would've liked her better if she'd been more of a stand-alone character who'd have followed her personal motives.

She has to die in the Battle. They can't have Haldir die at Helm's Deep and her live.
