That is weird! I hate it when people use the words "hot" and "cute" to describe Legolas Kili Aragorn ect. I think this has to do with your age though. I used to feel awkward about those expressions too and now I have no issues with them whatsoever. I definitely think a lot of characters are both hot and cute - as well as other more graphic expressions - and I don't see why not. I don't see what the issue is. I don't see the issue with fan fiction or RPGs with romance involving LotR characters (or any characters) for that matter. I wouldn't describe Fili as hot, but I can definitely see why some would say it abut Kili. Although I find both attractive my personal words to use would be just that; attractive, if anything. They are both cute, however.

I'm not bothered by this either, since I'm nearly 41 years of age (come July 25th) and I still swoon over certain characters and actors (it's not just the character). If a character or actor is attractive, then they're attractive, and I don't see the harm in pointing that out on occasion. Some fans go a little overboard with this (mostly the younger ones, us older ones are a little more discreet about it), so I can see how you can be a little turned off by it. Though I would describe both Fili and Kili as cute (but way too young for my tastes), it's not the word I would use to describe Thorin. For him, I would use words such as hot or attractive. "Cute" just doesn't cut it.

"Cute" just doesn't cut it. Agreed. And I'm just 25 (come August). I think when a person start to describe openly a lot of very graphic things they'd do to a character it gets awkward. But that has nothing to do with the character in question and more to do with the graphicness of the descriptions. If someone thinks a character or actor is hot I say that's good for them. And you're right, cute doesn't cut it for everyone.

^ Nope. There are many words that could be used to describe Thorin, but cute is about the last one that comes to mind! I would use 'cute' to describe Fili, Kili and Ori though. Although cute for me also implies something young, small, fluffy or adorable, and Fili, Kili, and Ori answer to all these descriptions But back to the question at hand: My favorite scene with Fili and Kili is where they each stand on different mountain troll's legs. The looks on their faces were quite heartbreaking, and it seems like they realise for the first time that this journey is not only about fun AND that there might be the possibility that they even get separated during the journey. It definitely shows a contrast to their funny and good-natured side.

^ Yes I noticed. He does show some affection towards them however, giving them little smiles and nods as he walks by. He also seems more concerned about them then about the other Dwarves, but that might also be because they are somewhat younger. I really hope we get to see some more family moments in the Extended Edition, maybe even with a shot from Dís? I imagine her to be a really strong woman, who can get even Thorin to shudder when she gets angry
