Wow! That's much information for me! I didn't know it was ever planned to be a 2-part movie version! And I didn't know they already started to plan it! And whom else do they want to direct it if not PJ?

^ Yep, that's the link I was after.
The news is just terrible, and my only hope is - and it isn't much of a hope - is the stir this will cause may entice New Line to reconsider. PJ and his crew not taking the helm of the Hobbit is one of the things that could happen to the production.
My other concern is will the cast of LOTR, whose characters appear in the Hobbit, still be playing those roles? Will Ian Mckellen (who has said he would like to play Gandalf again) be considered or will he himelf refuse to play Gandalf because his friends and co-workers will not be there with him?

Well, look at TORn again (I guess I'm their unofficial AU advocate  ). There's a new report that MGM sent out- evidently the matter of PJ directing the Hobbit is "far from closed." Also, Weta says they still want to do the movie. I just don't want to see it without PJ. _________________ I am a Shieldmaiden for Christ!

I hope that all of the cast refuses until P.J. decided to direct it. Since if P.J. doesn't direct it.... I probably WON'T watch it.

We can't have the Hobbit made by anyone other than PJ. It just wouldn't be right. _________________

oh i agree! but i heard he was fired, but i must have heard wrong (and also they said they were going to try to make a Simarillian movie too. wrong?). but it wouldn't be the same if PJ didn't direst it and it was made by totally different people and if Gandalf was played by someone other than Ian McKellen, he wouldn't be the same  ! and Bilbo wouldn't be the same, but do you think bilbo would be played by Ian Holm? becuase he's probably too old or something...

They're just lost a customer. Me. I read in a newspaper article today that P.J. is officially NOT doing the Hobbit, but New Line still is. But no P.J..... I wonder if they're hire different actors! Is so, then they have just lost a customer..... :(:(:(:( _________________ Formerly known as Leonder
