I was just was logging into my Yahoo account, when this title caught my eye. "Peter Jackson agrees to produce 'The Hobbit'." Here's the URL. http://www.yahoo.com/s/763511
So, what do you all think? :bounce:

Two hobbit films? So, they are cutting the book in half?

hmm, well, I'm not so glad to hear that PJ is going to direct it, but at least he's gonna be the executive producer.

Yes, yes, yes! I went nuts when I read this on TORn this morning!

There's still a chance that PJ could direct it. It's just not certain. And he gets to choose the director.

Also, I don't think they're splitting the book into two movies. They;re doing The Hobbit, and then a connector between that and LotR. It'll be done with info from the Council of Elrond and the appendices and such.

I can't WAIT!

Kudos to Kitoky for the fabulous signature set, and art credit to engelszorn.

i love the fact that they've resolved everything and that pete is overseeing the project...but...and i know it maybe asking alot but.....i just feel that any change from the crew and even a diff. director might change it enought that it won't fit with LOTR....i just wish that pete was directing both, the same writers were involved and weta is involved (and of course bringing back castmemeber for they're characters)....i mean...it's every single one of those people that made LOTR what it is.....why mess with a good thing

but....they did say there is still time.......but im glad we atleast have the movies and pete is involved

Gah! I literally fell out of my chair when I read this on Yahoo news. At first I was a bit disappointed that PJ wasn't directing it, but I guess producer is the next best thing. SQUEE! 2010 is such a long wait, but 2 movies will be completely worth it if done well. :bounce:

I can't wait! I really like the fact that the book is being split in half, because that means it will be more accurate to the book!
