Quote: Monday 7 February, Wellington – Production company, 3Foot7 Ltd, is pleased to announce that the first day of principal photography for THE HOBBIT will be Monday 21 March, 2011.
This date has been chosen following practical considerations of the filming schedule requirements, actor availability and the NZ seasons. Shooting will take place at Stone Street Studios in Miramar and on location around New Zealand.
Confirmed cast include: Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Rob Kazinsky, Aidan Turner, Peter Hambleton, John Callen, Jed Brophy, Mark Hadlow, Adam Brown, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis, Mikael Persbrant, Sylvester McCoy and Elijah Wood. Director, Sir Peter Jackson, comments: “Despite some delays we are fully back on track and very excited to get started.”

Am I the only one still in disbelief that this is actually happening AND being directed by PJ? I mean, I'm listening to the FotR soundtrack right now and every so often it will cross my mind "Whoa, there'll be new music and everything and......  " I guess I can't believe that after all the years of petitions and lawsuits and everything, it's actually started. _________________

I'm just over the moon about it  I mean, he SO deserves this, and the fans deserve it, and the movie deserves it, because he's the only one who can do it justice in a way that also makes fans of the trilogy satisfied. _________________

That's really cool! I had not heard that! Does anyone know when it is supposed to come out, though?
I'm pretty happy PJ is directing it also, if he hadn't I was worried it wouldn't be enough like the first three.

Well, actually there's going to be two movies. The first will premiere in November 2012 and the second in November 2013 _________________

November of 2012... well, I guess I am in for a wait. lol
I guess I had heard they were making it into two movies but didn't remember that... Where are they splitting it? At least the second will only be a year after instead of two years like most movies are.

It just kind of hit me that, oh my god - there is going to be NEW music for this whole world that Peter and Howard and everybody gave life to. That just boggles my mind a little, and yet I think I'm more excited for the soundtracks than anything else right now. Is that weird? Yes it is. YESSSSSSS! It's happening!  And then of course I thought, "Wait, isn't the world ending in 2012?!" The world can end after I've seen these movies.  _________________ "So what? So plenty!"

Haha, yes... the end of the world will just have to wait I guess. lol Arweb, that's a good decree, I'll go for that!
I don't think it's silly to be excited about the music. The sound tracks are always really really good! I love the LOTR music. I even like the music from the LOTR games... O_o I am curious to see if the Hobit will impact the LOTR online game as well. *shrugs*
