Bombur, Bofur and Bifur



While most of the Company of Thorin Oakensheild is related to the royal and noble line of Durin, Bofur, his brother Bombur and their cousin Bifur most definitely are … not. Born and bred in the West, descendants of coal miners and iron workers, they have joined the Quest for the Lonely Mountain partly to seek their fortune and partly because they were told the beer was free.

They are certainly more dwarf-ish than Fili and Kili...but none the less, they are awesome! I love Bifur especially.

I love how fat Bombur is, and his necklace looks like it could be his braid , whilst Bofur just looks cheeky

Oh Bombur. I always did like him. What is that braid thing, though? Looks like it would get in the way while doing... anything, really.


Anyway, I know it's been said, but it's great that they're making the effort to make them look like individuals, especially since so many of their names are similar. That ought to help out the poor people who haven't read the book. And the people that have too xD

Now Bifur, Bombur, and Bofur look more dwarf like than Fili and Kili, it kind of looks like they tried to make Fili and Kili the sexy members of the group, lol. I get more excited with every picture I see. And I wouldn't be surprised if Bombur's braid was his hair wrapped around him. And Bifur's hair cracks me up, he looks like a wild mountain man!

So, I'm as excited about the dwarf pictures as everyone else, but I've got to say it: has it been bothering anyone else how very stylized these photos are? I feel like I've been looking at half-photos, half-concept-art. I assume that it's just the post-processing effects used, but it kind of bugs me in that I don't feel like I'm getting a very good idea of what the actors will REALLY look like in their costumes and prosthetics. It's more like I'm looking at very detailed CGI video game characters Really hoping this isn't the style they decide to use for all the promotional stills!

Now that you mention it, the pictures do kind of look like really good video game images. I'd be shocked if these are the only promotional pictures, we have quite a while to wait for the movie to come out. They're just giving us all teasers right now, get us all excited and wanting more, then they'll take it all away for a few months and make us all go crazy until the movie release date gets closer, then they'll release more photos.
