Here is the last production diary of the year (don't worry, there will be more next year):

This one mostly talks about the score. Besides I See Fire, my favorite tracks so far (even though I don't technically own the soundtrack yet, because I'm still waiting for the stores to get the Special Edition in) are the themes for Laketown (it does sort of sound like a sea shanty) and the Line of Durin. :)

Ooh! I loved this production diary... I feel like a lot of people forget about all the work that goes into scoring a movie, but it's my absolute favorite part.

Honestly, the way I stay in touch with the world of Tolkien is through Shore's beautiful scores. They are perfect!

I think it is an interesting choice to not have Shore direct it. Couldn't they have flown him to NZ for that? I don't know, just a thought. :)

And Marida, I know you can buy the special edition on iTunes already... I downloaded it last week and it is absolutely THRILLING.
