Personally I dodnt mind her roll bit since she isnt in the book I was a bit opposed to her relationship and major roll. But that is just me.
It might be in the extended, who knows. As for the extended edition coming out I believe it is set for this fall. Dont remember exact date.

I didn't like the part of Tauriel at first eighter. It was to different from the book. Now I appreciate the movie, but I still think they should've let out the romance between Kili and Tauriel.

I know what happened to Tauriel in the EE. Should I tell you?

I won't tell. I did not buy the EE yet but someone told me. My local Wallymart does not even have a display up for the EE. It seems to me that there isn't much interest in it.

Not much interest? Gosh! That is no good at all!
I don't know if mine has it either honestly. Have not been all month. But I am going to try and watch them all over the holiday weekend.

Yeah I have yet to see it at Walmart, thankfully I had pre-ordered mine on amazon and got it a while ago. My sister and I are in the midst of going through all the EE this week by watching one a night. Tonight it is the Two Towers!

Cool. Sounds like fun! I don't know if we will have enough time to do all six but I hope to do all the hobbit movies at least.

I watched the extended of BOFA and I guess we have to use our imagination as to what happened to Tauriel. It's just like Jackson to leave things unfinished. I think she went back to Mirkwood.

Her reconciliation with Thranduil in her final scene A- implies she is no longer banished and B- that she returned to Mirkwood. She and Thranduil have reached an understanding. I've explained in another thread that Tauriel's arc is to provide character development for Legolas and Thranduil. Kili is just her motivation for taking action which drives the tension between the three characters. I, personally, can't envision how an additional scene could provide further resolution for the character in the Hobbit story. There was no need for her to be at the funeral, as she had already said her goodbye to Kili. Had they had chosen to show Thranduil naming Bilbo elf-friend she *could* have been present, but I'm not sure it would have added anything to her character. So I pose the question- if her current arc is 'unfinished' what would you have wanted to see as her final scene?

Hm... It has been since it was in theaters since I watched it and inly the once. I guess I just did 't remember the issue being resolved between Thranduil and Tauriel.
I, personally, would agree that (Her banishment lifted being the implication) her story arch is complete. She wasn't in the books... So I'm honestly not desparate to see a ton more of her in the movies. I am more interested in other characters like Beorn and such.
I guess she did play her role. Legolas wasn't in the book either and it kind of brought up other needs in the story line.
