I really want to see Sir Ian Holm as Bilbo because he's Bilbo for me!
I want to see Hugo Weaving as Elrond and Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf... if they change that I won't watch the movie called the Hobbit.

I'm hoping Peter Jackson is sensible enough to keep enough of the old actors in their original places... At least you know Smeagol will be the same, no one but Andy Serkis can do that voice properly! ;)

As for the question of Thranduil, I think PJ will have a hard time trying to find someone for him... after all, Wood-elves in Mirkwood aren't supposed to be as wise or 'otherworldly' as the Elves in Rivendell or Lorien, though they are equally as beautiful.

Illllggg... :confused2: I dearly hope PJ does NOT choose Orlando Bloom for Thranduil. Believe me, I love Orli! But somehow I don't think he would make a good Elven king. I've seen alot of places now where people have been discussing whom should play Thranduil, and each time I've been horrified! Hehe...yeah. You see, either they say Orli should play him, or some evil-looking guy that is giving me every single impression that if THAT actor is chosen for Thranduil, then Thranduil's character will be portrayed as a bad guy, and I will SUE PJ if he makes Thranduil a bad guy... :annoyed: *cracks knuckles* which I have a sinking feeling that he will. It would make the movie more interesting, and give us all another person to make a hatelisting for...but I don't think I could stand it.

On the other hand, I REALLY hope that he keeps all the other actors. Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Ian Holm, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis, etc. I don't know where we would be without those guys!

Anyway, enough rambling for now. :)

Even though Legolas isn't metioned in the Hobbit, I'm sure that they'd have him sitting beside Thranduil when Bilbo pops in

The only one I could imagine playing Thanduil is Jason Isacks (Not sure last is spelled correct) If you wonder who he is, then here some of his work.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as Lucius Malfoy, Draco's dad.
The Patriot as the evil col. Tavington
Peter Pan (Newest one) as Capt. Hook
and some other I can't remember know.

..... Jason Isaacs? Well, he'd be all right I guess...but I kind of have to agree with Melphie here. Jason Isaacs always plays a bad guy in the movies he is in, so if Peter Jackson chooses him...well, I just never really pictured King Thranduil as a bad guy.

Well I think that Thranduil is not a bad guy he is just intimidating. I believe most would think him arrogant and rude, but really I think that Thranduil is cautious and careful. Jason isaacs would probably play Thranduil very well in my opinion.

Yeah he would be good! someone said they wouldnt go if Ian&Ian wasnt in the hobbit, and i have to agree! I dont think that the guy who played Gimli (i cant remember his name, AAAH BRAIN FART!) who be in it though because he swore he was never going to be dwarf EVER again.

I would love to see a version of Mirkwood! We've seen Rivendell and Lothorien in LOTR, but not Mirkwood!
