My best friend can do it really well, it's kinda creepy. Like one time she slept over, and I woke up hearing her say, "Wake up, my precioussssss..."
Trust me, not a voice you want to hear first thing in the morning.

My boyfirend does a pretty convincing gollum impression - when we read the Hobbit in year 5 he cracked EVERY one up so bad, it was really good.
But i agree they should keep the actors playing the characters that appear in LotR and the Hobbit playing the same people, other wise some people might get confused. i wonder where they'll get people to play all those dwarves? I wanna see smaug. yay smaug. the battle of Five armies should be good too.

I don't have any ideas for new actors, but I must say that if they DO make this movie, I hope they don't portray Thranduil as being evil in any way. I never thought of him as evil when I read the books (though after stumbling across God knows how many LotR-abusive!Thranduil stories, I take it a lot of people think that way), and I really hope Peter Jackson doesn't go down that road.
I also know that if this movie is made, Ian Holm will not be returning. There was an article a..year ago? in which he said that he wouldn't be able to do the stunts and physical work required (even with a stuntman doing some of it, apparently), and that there'd be quite a bit of difficulty in making him look as young as he needs to.
It's quite sad, really, as I admire and appreciate Ian Holm's quality acting abilities, and really did want him back for Bilbo.
When John Rhys-Davies said he wouldn't ever be playing a dwarf again (and after hearing his stories of the terrible eczema he had, I completely understand why), I was quite disappointed. Thankfully, with the development of CGI and such, perhaps he could be convinced into coming back as the voice of Smaug, or doing some sort of voice work like that.

I think they need to stick with the original idea of casting: At the time LOTR was being made, very few of the actors in the film were major stars. Yes, most had some kind of film career, but look how far they've come since then.

really?? That's cool. I don't think Christopher Lee is that famous. If I told his name to the others in my class for example, they wouldn't know who he is and also my parents don't know who he is, but on TV a moderator of a comdey show congratulated him to his birthday.

Ah, come on, after doing both LOTR and Star Wars, I think a lot of people know who he is, even those who have never heard of a Hammer film.
