i thought new line wouldnt let him? Not sure where i heard that though so i'm probably wrong. I'd bet that its a mutual decision between PJ and New Line anyway.

As long as the movie is good and does justice to the book i really don't care who directs it. I just have more faith in PJ.

wow. i saw on IMDB that there is a Hobbit movie planned for 2009 or something. so PJ is definately not doing it? i'm kinna confused

i think there is still time. they just need to figure things out....and get through their heads that making the hobbit without pj would be a awfully big misktake.he has said in the begining he would do it but first things with the companies need to be straightened out.i can't imagin a hobbit film without peter.

right now things so many things are going around and things are so screwed up i don't think anyone really knows whats going on anymore.

I wish they would get it through thier heads the PJ needs to do one movie with all the old actors/crew/design team and just do it. SOON. It would be so amazing. But companies don't seem to think that way... =/

PJ isna directing it because he sued New Line Cinema... simple as that. It's a great pity though.

I'm sure Peter Jackson will be directing it. I've heard several times that he will be but there's no point in debating this as we can only find out in due course.

I don't think that any other Director will be able to bring justice to the movie, and PJ has the Tolkien flair.

From what i know both Ian Holm and Sir Ian McKellen will appear in the movie [i wish Elijah could but obviously he can't] unless PJ thinks of a way of interpreting him into one of the movies which i doubt lol.

I think the idea of two movies is brilliant and i'm really looking forward to it!

No, he directed Spiderman. In an interview (which I can't find at the moment), he said he wants to direct The Hobbit.

I have no idea. He did a good job on Spider-man, but The Hobbit is a very different kind of movie. The best option, IMO, is to have PJ doing it, but since that seems unlikely now, Sam Raimi is as good as anyone!
