Wow, there is a lot of agreeing going on here. :P

It's a pretty interesting theory. We all now know, they weren't part of the actual Fellowship, but I think it is only right that more people actually acknowledge what they did to help and aid the Fellowship. I say they are behind-the-scenes and honouray Fellowship members. :D

They aren't part of the nine...that isn't really a matter of opinion. It's in the book. But it's not like that means they are not as important. Everybody had a hand in adding something to the story. :)

Aerandir has got it right. I don't really understand how someone could think they were are a part of the fellowship.

If they were (even though only the nine were appointed) than you could say that Éowyn, Théoden, and even Gollum were part of it, because they all ended up doing something that assisted with the fellowship's quest.

The ones that went walking were the fellowship... though Elrond and Galadriel helped them!

I don't see how they could be apart of it. They only gave advice or assited.

I'd agree with Ashwise here (and everybody else who said the same things). They were a great aid to the Fellowship but they are certainly not part of the Fellowship. The Fellowship was meant to be nine people, neither more nor less. Three, seven and nine are always magic numbers in mythology, folklore and fairytales. They're not meant to be compromised ;)
