Just curios.... I know a lot of people LOVED Elijah Wood as Frodo... but do you think anyone else could have done a better job?
Frodo, started out better int he first movie in my opinion but I've just always wondered what it would have been like if they cast a different actor for him. Does anyone know what other actors were considered for the role?

I will have to re check sometime but I thought Peter Jackson said Elijah Wood was his first option and he got him, but I may be wrong. It's hard to imagine anyone else playing that role though. IMO.

That might be. I never really knew or if I did I don't remember. It is hard.. I don't know anyone who would really... "fit" but I just wonder what it would have been like. I'll be honest I like Frodo a lot better than I like Elijah Wood. And I grow tired of Frodo in the last two movies sometimes. But that's probably me being a slightly shalow action loving guy. lol

Personally I loved Elijah wood as Frodo.
I can't imagine anyone else playing him and I think he did a great job.
As far as I know I think he is the only one cast for the role.

Yeah... I know a lot of people do.
I've just never been the hugest fan of his. I do think he played the roll well, just always wonder how someone else would have played it.

Celebrities are not incredibly good people as a rule (perhaps with the exception of Sean Astin), and you have to be careful not to fall too much in love with the actor because they tend to screw up really bad way too often. As far as growing tired of Frodo, that's understandable, I suppose. It's a long movie:p

I for one didn't think Elija was a good fit as Frodo Baggins (with two g's). In my mind's eye, Frodo was a bit more mature than how he appeared in the movie. He was after all fifty years old, while Sam was 38, Merry was 36, and Pippen 28. Yet in the movies he looks like the baby of the four. No, he wasn't right for the part. As far as his acting the part, he did a respectable job as far as the screenplay allowed. He sure had a knack for landing on his backside.
As for who I think would have been a better fit... I'll have to give it some thought with the consideration of who would have been right in 1999 when filming started.

Healic, this is quite true... it is a long movie. lol And also true that the characters are almost always better than the actors. (With the exception of perhaps bad characters as well as Sean AStin ) Hanasian, This is true. I didn't realize how old frodo was supposed to be when I first saw the movie. When I found out I was like... O_O That makes the whole movie just seem... wrong. Wasn't it like 20 some years or something really long like that between when Gandalf tells Frodo to keep the ring secret and silent and when he actually sets off to Rivendel?

LOL *
Actually, 17 years elapsed between the two events.
*(You'll have to excuse my LOL, Jax but I couldn't help myself when I noticed that you started this thread ..... and you misspelled Baggins in the title. You know how much I love to tease you about your wee faux pas.)

It's one thing to make a typo in a post... quite another to do it in a thread title as it's there for all to see forever...
