Whats yours?
Mine is when Gandalf dies and Aragorn is the last to leave the caves. Its in slow motion and everyones voices are echoing. The arrows are hitting the walls and spinning back off. The sound of the arrows hitting the wall and Aragorns expression is sooooooo cool. It makes the moment real sad.

Do you mean the most touching scene from just FOTR? For me that's probably the scene directly after Gandalf dies, or perhaps the scene where Boromir is talking to Aragorn on his deathbed. The actors pulled those off so incredibly well and the scenes didn't feel too cheesy or melodramatic at all.

....when Boromir dies. That's always struck me as the most emotional part in FotR.

Most touching: Boromir's death and Gandalf's (shocker..)

Coolest: Flight to the Ford! and in the EE, the Passing of the Elves.

The coolest scene in the movie is definitely the battle at Parth Galen. And then, in the EE, the fight in Moria.

I have a weakness... Arwen in Flight to the Ford... I can't help it... I'm not even a hardcore Arwen-fan anymore. But 1. Liv's gorgeous, 2. She's got Hadhafang, 3. She's got cool Elvish lines!!
(And yeah, we can scowl her for snatching Glorfindel's horse and part in another thread!)

The saddest scene... Sure Gandalf's fall and Boromir's death are painfully sad scenes for the reasons you've all stated. I'd like to add the scene where Frodo is looking out on the river, knowing he has to leave his friends and the Fellowship to go to Mordor alone. What an incredibly hard decision that must have been for him...

It's not a cool scene because of that, but despite of that. We must get over whining about Peter Jackson's shameless exclusion of Glorfindel and relate to the movie as it is. Where is the forgiveness in your heart?

The Flight to the Ford scene is the main reason why I got hooked on the movies, eagerly spent hours and hours searching the internet for Elvish and afterwards spent hours memorizing vocabulary and learning grammar - and finally how I ended up on A-U. So personally the scene means a lot to me and I think it's cool, and I can't be bothered to let a grumpy hobbit-bashing, Glorfindel-(and Legolas-)loving fangirlish lad spoil this!
*ends rant and returns to her usual mild and gentle self*

Oh well..I saw the movie before reading the book, so I didnt even know who Arwen and Glorifindel were.

Same here, but it only took one book-reading to decide that Glorfindel should have had that role instead of Arwen. He's just much cooler.

Let's compare the two. Glorfindel was a Noldorin Lord of the Elder days. Arwen was a half-elven maiden from the 3rd age. Glorfindel was a great warrior. Arwen sat at home and sewed. Glorfindel died protecting the refugees of Gondolin. Arwen sat at home and sewed. Glorfindel chose to return to Middle-earth to aid the Elven Remnant against Sauron. Arwen sat at home and sewed. Glorfindel has killed a Balrog and scared the Witch-king off just because of his presence. Arwen sat at home and sewed. Glorfindel is a skilled warrior who wears cool armor. Arwen isn't a warrior and she wears dresses, not armor. Glorfindel is considered to be one of the fairer lords of the Noldor--Arwen has the likeness of Lúthien.

So Arwen gets the last point, but loses like, how many to Glorfindel? Glorfindel is way cooler.

.....I mentioned three things of Glorfindel. Those were his activities and accomplishments. So naturally, I listed Arwen's as well.
