More scenes such as the gift giving scene in Lothlorien and lots of sweet documentaries.

I like the extended edition. You should definately see it, because there is a lot of character building that is missing in the theatrical version, and I think that it's better, also because there are some parts that make me love the film even more. WATCH IT NOW!

Yeah I prefer the EE. In the version I have (or is it all forms of the EE?), the scenes that are extended or totally new are marked by asterisks.

There are scenes that help to explain some later happenings. Like for example, the gift giving scene in Lothlorien, Galadriel calls Aragorn 'Elessar'. When I started reading FF, I see all these stories with some 'Elessar' person (note, I hadn't read the books/done character digging). I had to look it up to find out that Elessar was the name Aragorn took as king, what it meant, and who originally called him that.

Another one I can think of is in TTT, after Aragorn falls from the cliff and the horse comes, he calls him 'Brego'. I thought, his horse found him. But one of the scenes that was cut shows Aragorn coming across a non-compliant Brego, who Eowyn says was Theodred's horse. I was like, it would've been nice to know that in the theatrical version.

I know! I was watching the movie and I'm thinking - where'd the horse come from? Cuz they obviously don't spring out of holes in the ground! (another good scene)

There are about 20-30 minutes of new scenes as well as extended scenes in the Extended Edition of FotR. It's almost like watching a whole new movie all together. The EE's are the only way to watch the films if you ask me. They are far more superior :)

There's more Haldir in the FotR EE, which can only be a good thing :innocent:

I agree with whoever said that it was like watching a whole different movie.

The beginning is almost wholly different. It (the EE) introduces the characters differently, and it has that extended scene of Isildur...

Definitely superior to the theatrical version. It makes more sense as a whole, because it gives you more information on what is happening at the time.
