i love the part where they are in the council of elrond, and merry and pippin rush in, demand to be allowed to go, and after all that, pippin says, "so where are we going?" that part cracks me up every time |

Gosh where to start! There are farrr too many to mention ! Well I love the whole Frodo and Gandalf scene at the beginning: 'Before you came along we bagginses were very well though of...nevr had any adventures or did anything unexpected...' 'If you're referring to the incident with the Dragon, all I did was...give your Uncle a little nudge out of the door...' 'Whatever you did, you've been officially labelled a Disturber of the peace.' Umm: 'That was Good' 'Let's get another one' 'Fly you Fools' 'I'm going to Mordor alone...' 'And I'm coming with you!' 'I'm glad you're with me Sam' 'I don't know why he makes such a fuss...it's only a couple of carrots' 'and some cabbages, and some Mushrooms the week before' 'Yes Pippin my point is, he's clearly over-reacting...' 'Hey, Hey you!' 'Over here!' 'Hey you!' 'Over here!' 'This way!' 'It's working Merry!' 'I know it's working run!' "SHIRE! BAGGINS!!!!!" ^Because, that's the cue for the awesome scene when the riders ride out to get my Ring back...er, Sauron's. "Merry, are we lost?" "No," "Merry." "What?" ... "I'm hungry" These aren't my favorite quotes. The whole movie is my favorite quote. But if i had to choose: "I can't carry it for you...but i can carry you!" has got to be the best. It beats "For Frodo" simply because Tolkien wrote it originally.

I hate to say it, but that one I didn't completely agree with. It isn't in the book and the two things he said in that quote really didn't even have a logical connection. And the fact that he is telling Frodo to trust his own strengths...well, that simply isn't the best advice. But I do like a lot of the ones said here: "I would follow you anywhere, my captain, my brother, my king." Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. And this one has always been my favorite, ever since I read it in the book: "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many." I come across SO many excellent quotes in lotr. But, funny, when I try to think of one my mind goes blank! Here are a few at least: "Advice is a dangerous gift." ~Gildor~ "A staff in the hand of a wizard may be more than a prop for age." ~Hama~ "Farewell! I go to find the sun!" ~Legolas~ (What a goofball!  )
