I’m planning to buy a used Ford Explorer that was originally registered in the US but now it’s for sale locally. The dealer says it’s clean, but I’m wondering if VIN check services like CARFAX work for imports too? Has anyone tried this for US cars that were brought over?

I had a similar case with a Dodge Charger that was imported from Florida. When I ran the VIN through carfax usa, it pulled up the entire US history — title info, accident reports, even the last mileage reading before it left the country. What’s nice is that carfax usa shows export records too, so I could see exactly when it was shipped out. Helped me confirm the mileage and the maintenance schedule. Without that, I’d have had no clue if the car had been through a flood or was a repo. If the car started in the US, CARFAX is your best bet for digging up its past.
