I think Rivendell was done quite well actually. If you look at Tolkien's drawings and other artists' renditions of Rivendell, the film does look quite accurate. I especially love the waterfalls and the architecture. They did a good job with that.

Rivendell was sooo beautiful! It was so enjoyable to see it up on the big screen right from the pages of the book.

Rivendell, is like perfection. And we don't have perfection in our world.

I agree! I think Rivendell is amazing and it got perfect on screen! On the other hand, I didn't like Lothlorien very much, I think I was expecting for something more breathtaking, since Galadriel is more powerful than Elrond.
Lothlorien didn't impressed me as much as Rivendell. What do you think, comparing the two places?

Rivendell was gorgeous! I loved how it was set in a mountain retreat surrounded with waterfalls!

What bugged me about it, is that while Rivendell was well portrayed as a resting place, it was not at all portrayed well considering it's purpose, and it's background - it was where Elrond holed up when Sauron was overrunning Eriador - it was a fortress, in other words - Sauron tried to take it several times, and failed. I cannot imagine someone trying to take the Movie Rivendell several times, and failing even once. It's supposed to be a little more, defendable.

I thought that Rivendell was one of the most bookish places in the film. It was just breathtaking. Especially those waterfalls and cataracts.
