Yep, I'm ready to start with the email.

Since this is probably not a place to discuss this matter, I propose we bring it elsewhere. I have created a thread to discuss which is better: Click here for the thread

People who checked links
Can you please PM me your findings? It doesn't have to be extremely detailed, but I'd like to know a) what links you looked at b) if there were broken ones c) if there are new ones to be added.

I guess it depends. If you're going to be handling them, I don't really need to see them. If you're not, then I'd like them.

Just thought I would give people a heads-up where I am regarding the cast bios.
So far these are the people have I written about:
* indicates new to AU + indicates other non-internet sources will be needed
Peter Jackson Fran Walsh * Andrew Lesnie * Philippa Boyens Howard Shore Alan Lee * Ngila Dickson * Peter Lyon * Christian Rivers * Gino Acevdeo * Dan Hennah * David Salo * Rick Porras * Grant Major * Alex Funke * John Howe * Jamie Selkirk Mark Ordesky * Barrie M. Osborne
And I have to include:
Richard Taylor * Peter King *+ Tania Rodger *
So is there anyone else that I need to add? If I can't find their info on the internet I have other ways and means.
Also (minus the spelling etc I need to check) this is how myself and Larael were thinking the bios could be displayed. Not too different to the current bios. I'll be happy to code all the bio pages accordingly when the time comes.
Name: Alex Funke Birthplace: Santa Barbara, California, United States of America Birthdate: October 12th 1944 Marital Status: Is married with 5 children

Spent 11 years with Charles and Ray Eames during which time he filmed over 30 movies
Studied at the University Of California Los Angeles (ULCA) Film School during the 1960’s
Has taught advanced cinematography courses at both ULCA and Loyola-Marymount Universities
Co-designed the very first method for pin-registered transferring of film to video
Notable Projects:
Total Recall (1990), The Lawnmower Man (1992), Waterworld (1995), Starship Troopers (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), King Kong (2005), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
Selected Awards:
2004: Academy Award for Best Visual Effects (The Return of the King) 2004: BAFTA for Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects (The Return of the King) 2004: Saturn Award for Best Special Effects (The Return of the King) 2003: Academy Award for Best Visual Effects (The Two Towers) 2003: BAFTA for Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects (The Two Towers) 2003: Golden Satellite Award for Best Visual Effects (The Two Towers) 2002: BAFTA for Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects (The Fellowship of the Ring) 1991: Academy Award for Special Achievement Award (Total Recall)
So let me know what you think.

Sorry about the double post, but I need to write this while I still remember that it needs to be written I was just wondering: Is anyone checking the broken links in the forum? Like, I just found out that the link to the rules is broken. Which is kinda uncool, I guess. And also, a while back, I noticed that on the birthday thread, someone back in the day has apparently done some seriously tedious work and made every name on the list a link to said person's profile - only, the links don't work anymore. So basically, someone should go through the stickies etc and find out which links work and which don't. And I realize that that's going to be a whole lotta work, but I just think that if a thread is considered important enough to be stickied, the links it contains are important enough that they should work. /end rant

The link to the rules is broken? Can you copy/paste the url and what error message you get, if anything? Because it works fine for me...

Right, on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=60The first line: Quote: That link is broken. The proper link should be: faq.php?mode=rulesBasically I think all the links to profiles, threads, rules, etc. have been shifted around and changed because of the very recent and new software upgrade that the forum just went through.

Just dropping in to report on what Silver and I have been doing with the LotR fanvids. Right now we have 24 videos, from two different sites (Return to Innocence and Youtube.) Permission to link the vids from RtI has been okayed, but I still need to contact those on Youtube. Right now, I have: 10 General LotR vids 4 Shippy Vids (2 Aragorn/Eowyn, 1 Faramir/Eowyn, 1 Aragorn/Arwen) 5 Character Vids (2 Aragorn, 1 Eomer, 1 Sam, 1 Haldir) 5 Group Vids (3 Fellowship, 1 Hobbits, 1 Frodo&Gollum) How many vids do we want? I thought 25 was a good number, but I really have no idea. I'm thinking I need a bit more diversity in the character and group vids, and more hobbits. So I might do some switching around.
