I like the first one best, except I think I might need a while to get used to the text not being in a straight line The ivy one looks good too, though. And it's so much easier to say what looks better when you can see how they look with the rest of the skin

Is it possible to try one of the branches on the layout I sent you? Just to see how it would sit with the green if we had the main body green and the background black?
I love the text as well. The colour works with the green. http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/sample_green.htmlThere you go! The only problem I can foresee is that I was a stupid enough coder in the past that I didn't specify the background color of the main frame via a linked stylesheet, so that would have to be changed manually on each page (not a huge deal with find/replace on a program like NoteTab), and a lot of images that have "transparent" borders will have to be updated from the default black (like the welcome to A-U graphic and the stuff on the right). But at least you get an idea of how it would look!

I think it looks nicer with the main body black and the background green, like in the links Arweb provided first.

I agree with Eru. It gets just a little too dark if the background is black.

I much prefer the background to be green instead of black. And I like the branch ivy more than the ivy ivy.

For some reason I can't see the text on all the headers of the examples. So, if the coding's going good, when you will need the people that signed on recently, like me? And I daresay a couple of others. . .

^ do the URLs for the ones for which you can't see any text contain the word "textless" in them? If not, I'm not sure what's going on... Anyway, is everyone good with the first ivy-branch header? If so, does someone else want to take care of doing the real text and coding the imagemap navigation? Does the same person or someone else want to take care of doing the Arwen-Undomiel.com text? How do we want to work this?

Sorry, I haven't been able to get on my computer today until now (& I have to go jump in the shower), but yes! I can definitely do the image mapping. I would like to try submitting a version of the header with the nav text, but I also think it looks great the way Arwen made it! OH, I, too, like the first sample the best. http://arwen-undomiel.com/sample1.htmlIt is so much easier to gauge how the whole design will look when we can see the preview page like that! It looks a thousand times more awesome than I envisioned it to be! Getting sooo excited - almost there!! Okay, hopping in the shower now...

I can also do the imagemapping if nobody else is doing it, but if Nicole is... then yea.

Cool Here's the textless PNG of the first header for you to work with: Over to you! (I don't particularly like how I did the sample text...too skewed and whee-I'm-default-curvy-to-fit-the-branch-ish...so, feel free to do with it as you please. Although I don't know if the sections I used in the sample are the ones that everyone agreed upon. Was anything agreed upon? )

Sorry I may be out of this for a few hours/days hopefully not... managed to get myself onto some kind of *beep* site which then downloaded something that has been sending contaminted messages making me think my compy is infected and trying to get nme to but the "anti virus" software.. so i'm using rhe spae computer for this... hopefully my dad can fix it tomorrow... i'm so embarassed by it all. anyway, we did agree on what links we wanted for the header heres what i remember fan site media hobbit films fun books elvish forum - or maybe not have that and have special button the main page misc - not sure if we still need that as things in there like the crosswords etc will be moving to "fun" and the rest I think should probably be under media perhaps anyway, if you don't hear from me, you'll know why...
